UK Government Moves Aggressively To Censor & Control The Internet
by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

[Bild: 20170519_PM1_0.jpg]

The following dystopian excerpts come from today’s UK Independent article titled, Theresa May to Create New Internet that Would Be Controlled and Regulated by Government:
Theresa May is planning to introduce huge regulations on the way the internet works, allowing the government to decide what is said online.

Particular focus has been drawn to the end of the manifesto, which makes clear that the Tories want to introduce huge changes to the way the internet works.

“Some people say that it is not for government to regulate when it comes to technology and the internet,” it states. “We disagree.”
(...)
Senior Tories confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the phrasing indicates that the government intends to introduce huge restrictions on what people can post, share and publish online.

The plans will allow Britain to become “the global leader in the regulation of the use of personal data and the internet”, the manifesto claims.

It comes just soon after the Investigatory Powers Act came into law. That legislation allowed the government to force internet companies to keep records on their customers’ browsing histories, as well as giving ministers the power to break apps like WhatsApp so that messages can be read.

The government now appears to be launching a similarly radical change in the way that social networks and internet companies work. While much of the internet is currently controlled by private businesses like Google and Facebook, Theresa May intends to allow government to decide what is and isn’t published, the manifesto suggests.

The manifesto even suggests that the government might stop search engines like Google from directing people to pornographic websites. “We will put a responsibility on industry not to direct users – even unintentionally – to hate speech, pornography, or other sources of harm,” the Conservatives write.....

We’re watching you! In Manchester city centre today? Then you’ll be caught on CCTV cameras 100 times

[Bild: newcctvgraf.jpg]

The rise and rise of CCTV means a person walking around Manchester city centre will be caught on camera an average 100 times a day.

There are now at least 10,000 of the devices across Greater Manchester- and that number is growing.
CCTV cameras are getting cheaper, smarter. Traffic cameras are also on the rise and public transport is now rigged for surveillance too. The automatic number plate recognition traffic cameras in the region will track 800,000 number plate reads a day.
And last month, Commissioner Bernard Howe, Britain’s most senior policeman, said CCTV cameras should be installed by all homeowners and businesses to help detectives solve crimes in an age of austerity.
Security firms have seen a 20 per cent rise in Greater Manchester residents asking for CCTV installation.

Manchester suicide bomber used improvised explosives and had 'planned attack for months'
THE Manchester Arena terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert was carried out by a suicide bomber armed with an improvised explosive device (IED)....
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/808029/...ide-bomber

A suicide bomber killed at least 22 people and injured 59 others by detonating an explosive at the Manchester Arena in England during an an Ariana Grande concert Monday night, the Greater Manchester Police say.
The attacker died at the scene and is believed to have used an improvised explosive device, police said. “This is currently being treated as a terrorist incident until police know otherwise,” the police department said in a statement. Investigators said they are working to determine if the assailant worked alone or was part of a network.
Witnesses said a loud explosion was followed by screams, panic and a stamped of people trying to leave the crowded building, which is one of the largest indoor arenas in the world.

+++Terror Anschlag in Manchester+++
10:54 | Leser-Zuschrift "Zweifel"

The explosion occurred near the foyer area of the arena, British Transport Police told The Sun. Sources told the newspaper the explosion was a “nail bomb attack,” but police have not confirmed that detail.
A man found dead at the scene is thought to be the probable suicide bomber, reports say. According to NBC News, officials have “tentatively” identified him.
NHS sources are saying the explosion at Manchester Arena was a nail bomb attack. Still unconfirmed.

NBC News is reporting that it was an attack carried out by a suicide bomber wearing a backpack bomb. NBC News’ Pete Williams, citing U.S. sources, reports there is “increasing confidence” it was a terror attack, while forensic evidence points to a bomb in a backpack.
